Sprint Triathlon
***There is a mandatory race meeting Saturday July 16th at 7pm at Lakeside Park in front of registration***
Package Pick-up — There will be No day of race Registration or Packet Pick-up
Friday 12pm to 8pm at Lakeside Park Registration Tent
Saturday 6am to 8am and 12pm to 8pm
Athletes must show picture ID. Triathletes must show current USAT membership or pay a one-day fee of $10.00. You will be required to sign a USAT waiver. Your packet will include participant's wristband that you must wear to enter transition and get your bike after your race. It also contains your run bib number, a bike number, a helmet number, a swim cap and you will get a timing chip. USAT rules are in effect.
Triathletes must be body marked and will mark their swim caps at Package Pickup (with touch up morning of race if necessary) Swim Caps — Number on Left Side of Cap. Body Marks = Race Number on Left Shoulder and Left Calf and Race Age Group - Right Calf
Race Start Sunday July 17th 8:00am in a series of 2-4 age group waves, 5 minutes apart.
Swim 800 Meters. Swim will be a somewhat rectangular course clockwise from Lakeside Park's western facing beach and exiting at its eastern most beach. View Map
Bike 13.1 miles. When you mount your bike on Terrace Avenue you will travel east 100 yards and turn right on East Center Street. Go one block and turn right onto Hwy 97A heading west. The bike goes west along the lake on South Lakeshore Road (Hwy 971) 6.55 miles. The route is mostly flat with a few moderate hills. The out and back then returns to Lakeside Park following the same route on East Center Street and Terrace Avenue to the dismount area. View Map
Run 5K or 3.1 miles. The run starts and finishes at Lakeside Park. You run on an out and back, mostly flat, course turning around at about the 1.5 mile mark. The aid station is just before one mile and you pass it coming back too. View Map
Finish You finish your race at Lakeside Park. A volunteer will remove your timing chip. You can then enjoy the post-race food and activities.
Relay Teams Select a team captain, pick a name and register. Members must be 10 years or older. (Age as of December 31, 2011). If you mail in your entry forms, please submit one check. Each member of the team will receive a technical t-shirt.
The team captain is responsible for picking up the team race packet. The packet will contain 1 run bib number, 1 bike number and 1 helmet number. The team will be given one timing chip that must be passed from the swimmer to the biker and then to the runner. There will be a designated area in transition to pass off the timing chip so the next stage of the relay can proceed.
